Girl Auctioning Her Virginity

January 28, 2009 Jacob Wood Leave a comment

A young college girl is auctioning off her virginity to the highest bidder.  Natalie Dylan, a 22 year old college student is auctioning off her virginity and the bid is now up to $3.7 million.  $3.7 million?  If you are shocked, join the club.  The young student wanted a way to raise funds for her college tuition and eventually found it online.  By using a brothel in Las Vegas, she’s able to sell a one night stand legally.  But what’s even more surprising to me is that she wants to use her college degree to be a family counselor.  You can read all about it here.

The last line of this particular article is classic. I gotta give Natalie points for getting this one thing right. Natalie concludes:

“It’s shocking that men will pay so much for someone’s virginity, which isn’t even prized so highly anymore.”

The Future is Now

My friend Troy sent me a link to a news story from the UK this morning. The story is about The Immersion Project and a thought-provoking little video from Robbie Cooper that looks at the role digital media is playing in the lives of our kids. More specifically, the film (below), gives us a straight-on view of the faces of kids as they lock-in with full attention to the TV screen as they play violent video games.

Walt Mueller’s Youth Culture Blog

The new face of adolescence is here.  And it’s moving faster than ever.  Youth culture has changed more in the last 5 years than it has in twice that amount of time.  Just a couple of years ago there was no Facebook, Myspace, Twitter or any Web 2.0.  With the advancement of technology our shift in culture is moving right along with it.  With my oldest daughter creeping up on adolescence, I’m wondering what the true impact of all of this will play out.  I’m not one to blame violence and all things evil on video games, but by watching this video it’s clear that it makes an impact differently on all kids.
