Remedy this

I am a David Crowder junkie.  Yes, I admit it.  I can honestly say that there is no other God-focused band that can lay it down like Crowder.  I know music is subjective and everyone has there own opinion, but if you haven’t found yourself alone in the car singing at the top of your lungs “You make everything glorious” or “Here is our King, here is our love, here is our God who’s come to bring us back to him…”  then you must have a broken iPod (or hearing).

Crowder is not really rock nor is he completely praise and worship.  There sound is never tamed, but always raw and poetic.  And while listening to the CD is always an experience, hearing them live is always preferred.  I can hear it now, as if thousands were gathered around the throne singing “Can you see the stars tonight, how they shimmer, shine so bright”…  David backs off from the mic as if to remind us that it’s not about us, but always about Him.  “How could such a King, shine His light on me, and make everything, beautiful again”.  Wow.

I find myself very disenchanted with the talent and selection of “Christian” music out there today.  But with such a creative and never boring evolution, David Crowder’s albums have consistently found their way to my listening shelf time after time.  And with the release of their newest album in late September, I can only imagine what’s in store for those who still desire to hear God centered poetry back into good music again.  Oh, and lyrics. yeah, wow, try this one on for size, from the new album:

and the problem is this
we were bought with a kiss
but the cheek still turned
even when it wasn’t it

and i don’t know
what to do with a love like that
and i don’t know
how to be a love like that

when all the love in the world
is right here, among us
and hatred too
so we must choose
what our hands will do

where there is pain
let there be grace
where there is suffering
bring serenity
for those afraid
help them be brave
where there is misery
bring expectancy

and surely we can change
surely we can change
something

and the problem it seems
is with you and me
not the love who came
to repair everything

and i don’t know
what to do with a love like that
and i don’t know
how to be a love like that

when all the love in the world
is right here, among us
and hatred too
and so we must choose
what our hands will do

where there is pain
let us bring grace
where there is suffering
bring serenity
for those afraid
let us be brave
where there is misery
let us bring them relief

and surely we can change
surely we can change
o sure we can change
something

the whole world’s about to change…

ok, i’m gushing, i realize. for me, this is why god invented music. I’ll be waiting in eager anticipation.

Now that you have me talking…

Well, I’m officially a blogger.

The site is up.  The words are written (at least some of them).  And I can now say I belong to my own special club of writers.  I’m a little excited and a little apprehensive.  I enjoy writing very much and have kept my own journal for some time, but to actually broadcast it is a little different.

Anyways, thanks to everyone who pushed and encouraged me to channel my completely random thoughts of life and more onto pen and ink (or keyboard and megapixels).

Now that you have me talking, you’ll probably never get me to shut up.
